Douglas County Case Study

The Douglas County Department of Health and Human Services launched an innovative campaign to get prevention tools directly to local households. Educational materials and 22,000 Deterra® Drug Deactivation and Disposal Pouches were mailed to households in rural Douglas County, Wis., to raise awareness about substance misuse and encourage everyone to clean out their medicine cabinets to prevent misuse and harm to the environment.

The household mailing campaign provided a quick, effective way to increase access to proper medication disposal and reduce the risk of drug misuse while saving on administrative costs like staff time, storage and event management.
